Robert “Bob” Joseph Mason, age 78, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Granite City, IL. Bob was born on September 6, 1939 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Augustus Harold Mason and Marie Virginia (McKinley) Mason.

Bob was a faithful and dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight with Tri-Cities Knights of Columbus in Granite City, IL. He was also a member St. Louis Catholic Deaf Society and the International Catholic Deaf Association. He worked in the maintenance department at the U.S. Post Office in St. Louis, MO for many years. Bob was an avid photographer and he enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three sisters, Connie Shimkus, Kathleen Kumle and Diane Mason; and by two brothers, Gordon Mason and Richard Mason.

He is survived by loving sister and brother, Gail (Dale) Coleno of Canton, IL and Bill Mason of Granite City, IL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018, a Chalice Presentation by the Knights of Columbus will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City, IL. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Louis Catholic Deaf Society or to the International Catholic Deaf Association. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
