ISDAA HALL OF FAME
ISDAA established
the Hall of Fame in 1990 in celebration of 152 years of education, civic
and sports. Those inducted into the Hall of Fame exemplify the highest
standards of education and civic leadership or athletic ability in their
chosen category. Those chosen have proudly supported and represented
ISDAA and have demonstrated exemplary character. Individuals considered
for induction into the Hall of Fame must have graduated at least five
(5) years prior to their election.
ISDAA Hall of Fame Selection Committee Bylaws:
The categories of
the Hall of Fame awards are as follows: sports, faculty/staff and
leadership or civic services by alumnus, in order to become eligible for
the nominations of the award, the candidate must fulfill the
requirements of a waiting period of at least five (5) years after
the candidate either graduate or leaves school. An athlete must
possess at least six (6) varsity letters with an accumulation of
citations; or an athlete shall automatically be included immediately
into ISDAA Hall of Fame if he/she becomes a state champion in any
sport. A team shall automatically be included immediately into ISDAA
Hall of Fame if the team wins a state champions or a national deaf
championship. A candidate for Faculty/Staff is qualified to be selected
if he or she has been employed at the Illinois School for the Deaf over
ten (10) years. A candidate for Leadership/Civic Service is qualified to
be selected if he or she was an ISD product and must have served at
least ten (10) years as a leader in the state or nation.
Nominations
forms are sent out to nominating committee which considers the voting
and makes the final decision. A candidate must be able to attend the
induction ceremony unless there are special circumstances. |
